The World Day Against Child Labour was incepted by The International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2002 to motivate everyone to fight against child labour and to make people conscious of the millions of children who work as paid or unpaid labourers and who are very vulnerable to exploitation .CHILDLINEs all over India has unceasingly observed this day through signature campaigns, distributing pamhplets, street shows etc to alert people on the issue and strengthen them to raise their voice and ‘Say No to Child Labour!’

Drawing competition for children
CHILDLINE Agartala conducted a drawing competition for underprivileged children from Joynagar Dasamighat ,Slum area Agartala. The drawing materials were provided as nearly 42 children participated with great vigor and enthusiasm. The team also encouraged the children to express through colours and shapes. All the children came up with some fantastic drawings which created a sense of achievement for not only the children but also the CHILDLINE team.
‘Stop Child Labour’ - Poster campaign spreads the message against child labour
As a part of the World Day Against Child Labour initiative, the CHILDLINE Kailashahar carried out “Stop Child Labour’, a poster campaign against child labour at Government offices, Hospitals, Schools, Motor Stands and other public places across Kailashahar. The campaign aimed to educate people about importance and relevance of the education and evils of child labour. The campaign was inaugurated by Mr. M.K.Nath, DM & Collector, Unakoti at the DM office.

CHILDLINE Andaman conducted an awareness programme with the city police on World Day Against Child Labour. A training programme was conducted with the lady police personnel of South Andaman district on Child Labour Regulation and Prohibition Act 1986. This was followed by a screening of CHILDLINE films i.e., Komal, Education Counts, Like Sisters, Rose during the police training session.

Joining hands with the District Administration, Police dept, Labour department, CHILDLINE Madurai staged short shows at four vantage points across the city. The cultural troupe members performed at the Periyar bus stand, Arapalayam bus stand, Nakikeyar palace, Thepakulam. The performance showcased the hardships children had to face in the name of child labour and stressed on the fact that the public could play a crucial role in eradicating the malaise of child labour by contacting CHILDLINE 1098.
